Draft Mode on your InkJet
Using draft mode when printing can save you lots of ink! When a printing a page under the Normal setting the cartridge goes over the page multiple times and each time sprays ink onto the page. When switching to draft mode the cartridge will make a single pass over the page and use considerably less ink. Your printer also has Resolution settings that can be changed in order to change the density of the print and ultimately save you ink.
Save your color
Therefore, if you are printing a document which has no color
you would think that the printer would just use the black cartridge, but
this may not always be the case. The color used in the document could
appear black to you, however, could slightly be off-black. When this
happens, your printer tries to use the combination of black and color
cartridges to match the color your computer is sending it. If you are
printing something that should be black, tell your printer to print
everything in black and white or gray-scale. This will tell your
printer to not worry about matching exact color and just use the black
cartridge for your entire document.
Do you I even
need a color cartridge?
Even though your color cartridge may be out, your HP inkjet printer is able to print in black only mode.
Cartridge yields
Most printer manufactures offer cartridges with different capacities of ink. Many times the XL version of a standard cartridge will yield 3x to 4x the amount of pages without costing 3 to 4 times the price.
